A Bed of Tall Grass and a House Built from Pine

I hear the wind as it whispers my name
Its low and loud as it whistles, come home
The sky is obscured as I wish for rain
Feel the rushing rivers their banks outgrown

My heart was left behind in the mountains
In the birds songs, so sweet so free of strife
In the waterfalls that act like fountains
In the sway of the trees, full of wildlife

Far out in the wilderness I am free
Standing in icy water from the creek
Walking barefoot the wild roses scratch me
Fields full of herds of deer no longer meek

Aspen birch and pine cover hills above
Starlit skies light this country that I love
