Alt title: I'm sorry
Although no words were ever shared between us
and sweet nothings never graced our lips
it was as if time had stopped and the world waited
for us to finally kiss
And though that time never did come
you still weigh heavy in my mind
in the memories of too high cliffs and jagged rocks
in tall mountains and snowy hills
in that cove on the beach still littered with rocks
in the ocean that waits and the waves that linger
in the pines that grow taller and the nights that get colder
in the dark sky up above littered with the same stars that spoke to us that night
And though that time never did come
our memories still come to remind me
remind me of what might have been
in the glances that lingered just a little too long
in all the messages we sent too late in the night
in every joke that seemed a little bit off
and every time our hands brushed from walking too close
I am reminded of the messages we never sent
and the confessions that were never shared
of the future that could have been,
if you just hadn't moved up the coast.
